HYDERABAD, NOV. 8. All the Ministers of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at the Centre and in State and party MPs have decided to meet AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, after Ramzan to press their case for separate Telangana.

The decision to meet Ms. Gandhi under the leadership of the party chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has been taken, as till date there has been no signal from the Congress-led UPA Government about moves to form the State.

The TRS has bided time so far reportedly on an assurance from Ms. Gandhi that she would look into the demand after the Maharashtra elections.

Leaders on backfoot

With polls over and pressure building on the party from various quarters, the leadership is obviously pushed to the wall.

The leadership is facing a strong criticism that it is enjoying power at the cost of its objective.

The Ministers and MLAs are frequently confronted with embarrassing questions from party workers about when Telangana State would be a reality.

Last-ditch effort

The proposed meeting of the TRS delegation with Ms. Gandhi is considered a do or die effort as continuation of its ministers in the Governments is untenable in the absence of a firm assurance from her.

A senior Minister has already issued a veiled threat that "things would start working in November."
