Civic polls: TRS likely to go it alone

NIZAMABAD, NOV. 26. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), a political ally of the Congress, is getting ready to field its candidates in all the divisions and for the chairperson posts in Nizamabad, Bodhan and Kamareddy towns in the coming municipal elections.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Friday, the TRS district president, A. S. Posetty, said if the district headquarter town was upgraded to a municipal corporation his party would contest for the Mayoral post.

The party activists were vexed and had become disillusioned with the alliance with Congress and wanted the TRS leadership to go to it alone in the local body elections. The party cadres were already on the job of mobilising their strength for coming elections.

Mr. Posetty, however, hastened to add that the rank and file and leaders would abide by the decision of the TRS high command regarding the electoral tie-up.
