TRS gearing up for `Prajagarjana'

HYDERABAD, DEC. 8.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is making all out efforts to make its Parade Grounds rally here on Saturday -- Telangana Prajagarjana -- billed as a `historic event,' a huge success.

It has invited representatives of about 15 parties, which are votaries of Telangana, to address the meeting to coincide with the foundation laying ceremony for the new premises of TRS, Telangana Bhavan.

Mahmooda Mufti of the People's Democratic Front (PDF), Ajit Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Ramadoss of PMK, G. Venkataswamy of Congress and Union Minister Shibu Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha have confirmed their participation, Union Labour Minister and TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, told reporters here on Wednesday.

`Last meeting'

Mr. Rao rushed here on Tuesday evening to involve himself in the arrangements for the meeting.

He said this could well be the last public meeting of the TRS in the unified State. The next meeting would only be to mark the victory of the TRS in achieving statehood for Telangana, most likely early next year.

Mr. Rao denied that the meeting was aimed at mounting pressure on the Centre to concede statehood for Telangana.

It was only a demonstration of the strides it had taken after the party office was vacated from the Jala Drushyam in the heart of the city. He appealed to the party workers to take it as a prestige issue.

Referring to the criticism of other parties that he had propelled the workers to violence with his speech a few days ago, he said he was only asking them to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
