KARIMNAGAR, JAN. 5. "Telangana region is always facing problems in united Andhra Pradesh. Only as a separate State, can we have our own share of river water and other resources and developmental works, the Minister for Civil Supplies, G. Vijaya Rama Rao, has said.
Talking to newsmen at the R&B guesthouse on Tuesday, he said separate Telangana was the only solution to the problems in the region. He reiterated that the TRS would continue its movement for the achievement of separate Statehood for Telangana.
Referring to the ongoing controversy over the proposed Dummagudem project on the Godavari, he said they would ask the Government to ensure Godavari water to meet the irrigation and drinking water requirements of Telangana and later divert the surplus waters to other regions of the State.
Goud's remarks
With regard to the statements on the project by the TDP leader and former Minister, Devender Goud, Mr. Rama Rao asked whether the TDP leader had changed his stand and was willing to work with the TRS to safeguard the interests of Telangana region. Mr. Goud had never uttered a word for the cause of projects in Telangana and instead supported linkage of rivers in the State, he claimed.
He charged the TDP leaders with remaining silent over the execution of Kalwakurthy and Bheema projects on the Krishna in Mahabubnagar district and also remained silent when the farmers agitated over sharing of Rajolibanda project water. However, he invited the TDP leaders to join the TRS at the earliest to safeguard the interests of Telangana.
