Maoists tell TRS to cut Congress ties

Hyderabad, June 1: The Communist Party of India-Maoist has issued an ultimatum to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to sever its ties with the Congress before June 15 or else the Maoits will ban their entry into villages. In a letter issued to the media on Wednesday night by the extremist party, its politburo member Prakash said all ministers, legislators and leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti who were “enjoying power and making (the) rounds of AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy should resign immediately.”

Giving a call to the Maoist workers and activists to launch an armed struggle to achieve Statehood to Telangana, the Maoist leader said that “now that it has been proved beyond doubt” that the Chief Minister is “against the concept of Telangana,” the TRS ministers should tender their resignations. “If they do not resign by June 15, the Maoists will teach them a lesson,” he said in the statement

The Maoists also took a potshot at actress-turned-politician Vija-yashanthi who recently left the BJP to float a pro-Telangana forum. Vijayashanti should make her stand clear on the historic talks held between the Rajasekhar Reddy government and the Maoists besides “the continuing fake encounters.” “It looks like Vijayashanthi, though she has announced that she has left the BJP, has the blessings of senior BJP leaders at both the Centre and the State,” the Maoist leader said

In the letter, the Maoist leader also condemned the resolution supporting united Andhra Pradesh adopted by the Telugu Desam at its recently concluded Mahanadu.

“Naidu’s stand and spport for united Andhra Pradesh is a betrayal of Telangana,” it added, referring to former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
